Starter Package & Scene Setup

Download the official starter package and import it into your Unity project:

Download basics2.unitypackage (Direct) View on GitHub Repo [link]

Import Instructions: In Unity top menu → Assets > Import Package > Custom Package → select basics2.unitypackage → click Import All. Open scene: Assets/Class2/0_STARTSCENE/Class2_startscene.unity.

Capstone Challenge: 4 Integration Milestones

Milestone 1 (Spawn Points Array): In EnemySpawner.cs, create [SerializeField] private Transform[] spawnPoints;. In Inspector, assign your 3 scene spawn points.
Milestone 2 (Shared Brain SO): Create EnemyStatsSO (speed: 3.5, hp: 20). Assign this asset to your Goomba prefab so all spawned enemies share 1 brain.
Milestone 3 (Wave Coroutine): Write an IEnumerator SpawnRoutine() that loops: wait 2.0s → pick random spawn point → instantiate Goomba → add to List<Enemy> activeEnemies.
Milestone 4 (Decoupled Death Event): When Goomba is stomped, fire onDied?.Invoke() → removes itself from Spawner's List, adds 100 points to ScoreManager, and squashes!

Architecture Check: Notice how Goomba does NOT have a hard-coded reference to ScoreManager or the Spawner. Everything communicates cleanly through events and parameters. Zero spaghetti code!

[SUCCESS CRITERIA & ARCHITECTURE CHECKLIST]

[OK] Array used for fixed spawn points (size never changes).
[OK] List used for living enemies (expands/shrinks dynamically).
[OK] ScriptableObject stores stats once (no duplicated numbers).
[OK] Coroutine controls 2.0s timing without Update timer mess.
[OK] OnCollisionEnter2D checks normal.y > 0.5f for stomp.
[OK] UnityEvent / Action broadcasts death (zero coupling).
[OK] Zero Console errors or unhandled null references!

Ready for Next Milestone!

Completing this challenge means your game has a robust, production-grade architecture ready for full level design and mobile publishing.

[Advanced] Object Pooling with UnityEngine.Pool Expand

Instead of calling Instantiate() and Destroy() repeatedly (which triggers garbage collection spikes on mobile CPUs), recycle Goombas using Unity 6's built-in UnityEngine.Pool.ObjectPool<GameObject>!

[Expert] Finite State Machine (Patrol & Squash) Expand

Structure Goomba AI using a clean enum State Machine:

public enum GoombaState { Patrol, Alert, Squashed }
public void ChangeState(GoombaState newState) { ... }
