BREAKDOWN

Mental Model:

Click 'Spam Double-Click Test'. Notice how the first click locks the system (blocksRaycasts = true). The second rapid click is intercepted and safely discarded by if (_isTransitioning) return;!

What is What:

blocksRaycasts: Prevents any touches or mouse clicks from registering on UI beneath the curtain.
_isTransitioning: A boolean guard preventing coroutines from being invoked multiple times concurrently.

Key Differences (X vs Y):

Unguarded Scene Loading: User taps 3 times, Unity fires 3 parallel LoadScene operations (crashes game).
Guarded Fader: First click triggers fade and blocks all subsequent touches until complete.

Common Trap and Why It Breaks:

Relying only on disabling the Button component. If players touch another button on screen, they trigger a different scene transition while the first is halfway through.

Golden Rule for Your Project: Lock input globally at the ScreenFader level using canvasGroup.blocksRaycasts = true; rather than disabling individual buttons.
